Pictures by North Norfolk boy sell for thousands

An exhibition of paintings by a seven-year-old from North Norfolk
have sold out and made thousands of pounds.

The works by Keiron Williamson from Holt fetched about £150,000 in just 30 minutes.

They were on show at the Picturecraft Gallery in the town and were bought by people from as far away as the USA.

The air ambulance was in action in Cromer on Friday morning.

A 39 year old woman had breathing difficulties while at the GP surgery this morning.

The helicopter landed on the cricket pitch and then flew her to the N and N.

She's now in a stable condition.

The future of lifeguards on the beach at East Runton is uncertain.

There'll be lifeguards there 7 days a week for the first time this summer.

North Norfolk District council only provides half the funding so more money needs to raised to make sure the service continues next year.

Local caravan park owner Mike Ashwell has provided £4000 for this year.

The RNLI summer sprint's happening at Snetterton Race circuit at 7pm.

That's three times higher than the estimate.

Norfolk police are going to be doing covert operations in Dereham to catch rural thieves.

Items including tools, red diesel and even animals have been taken from farms and homes in recent weeks.

Police are offering the following advice to rural communities:

- Always lock doors and close windows when you go out, even if you'll only be out for a short-time.

- Mark your belongings with a property marking product.

Hope that man will be cleared over helicopter crash

A North Norfolk man may be cleared of the blame for a helicopter crash that killed him and 28 other people.

In 1994, an RAF Chinook went down on the Mull of Kintyre and was Britain's worst peacetime helicopter diaster.

An official RAF inquiry said the aircraft was airworthy and found Flight Lieutenant Jonathan Tapper guilty of gross negligence.

But now a retired Scottish judge has agreed to conduct an independent review into the crash.

Cromer hospital building to go ahead in the Autumn

After years of delay, building work on the new Cromer hospital's due to start in September.

The £15 million project will see the annual number of patients increase to over 100,000.

North Walsham Hospital plans discussed

Health bosses have approved the business plan to update and improve North Walsham community hospital.

Plans for a Health Centre include refurbishing Rebecca House to provide a mix of rooms that can be used for clinics, consulting rooms or office space.

Social services would also be re-located to Rebecca House as well as physio facilities.

A new 24-bed rehabilitation ward could also be open as early as July of next year and there's also the potential for a renal dialysis unit.

There'll be a public consultation in September.

Three Norwich men have been jailed for a string of burglaries across Norfolk and Suffolk.

The men were sentanced to a total of 9 and a half years in prison for 31 burglaries.

Police say they hope that puts off others from stealing.

New figures show there's still overcrowding at Norwich Prison.

The Prison Reform Trust has told me at the end of June there were 732 people in the prison - which was built to only hold 625.

The Ministry of Justice says they're going to look into sentencing options and will introduce more effective policies, but admits it'll take time to get it right.

The company behind the wind farm at Sheringham's dished out a series of grants to local community groups.

The Mason Trust will get some of the money to raise awareness of climate change, while the Norfolk Ornithologist Association will get some cash to carry on their survey of birds.

And Unity Wind Limited, who are behind plans for a wind farm in North Walsham, are getting funding to help with impact surveys they need to do to get planning permission.

Organisers have now found a new venue to hold a 2 day event to build scenes of our county, in Lego!

Adrian Fletcher from Fakenham is doing it to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

A protest's been held at Norfolk's county hall.

There are plans to cut £1m from the service and get rid of 65 staff.

A complete redesign of the service at half the cost is being put forward.

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb is trying to get all local councils across the county, to work together more - to fight funding cuts.

He's inviting leaders to a summit in September to talk about how they can make efficiency savings.

£7 billion of public money's spent in the county.

He thinks by working more closely together, the public sector could easily save £700 million - just 10%.

For example, if things like waste collections were shared across the county, up to £5 million could be saved.

The new coalition government's had it's say on the Rackheath Eco development.

They've told Broadland District council the controversial plans need the backing of the local community.

Over 4000 homes which are environmentally friendly are planned for the area.

Now the council is planning to build a test site to show people what the development will be like.

They’ll put on events where local people can learn what’s going on and give feedback.

Work to improve Wells Outer Harbour has been a success in bringing in more jobs.

That's according to Harbour Master Robert Smith.

He says 7 to 8 boats are now working full time out of the harbour to take people to the Sheringham Shoal Offshore Windfarm site.

Planning permission's been recommended by the county council for the Phoenix Centre.

It'll include community facilities like IT, a theatre and a cafe.

Experts say it's a good time to start teaching them because pupils are less self conscious.
