Day two of strikes

Expect another day of finding it tough to get advice about your tax credits.

It's the second day of strikes by public sector workers, so people like benefits and job centre staff won't be at work.

Thousands will be on picket lines here in Norfolk and across the country as they're not happy about government plans to cut their redundancy pay by a third.

We're still waiting to hear back from the Cabinet Office about their thoughts on the strike.

Norfolk Fire service changes discussed

A meeting about big changes to our fire service is happening later.

The union representing our fire fighters reckons lives could be put at risk if there are cuts.

Norfolk's fire service say there'll be a public consultation after the meeting and that the plans aren't a done deal.

They need to save one and a half million pounds over the next 5 years.

Norfolk county council says they're going to run their access course in Creative Writing, English Literature and Journalism part time in North Norfolk.

Parents here in North Norfolk are being urged to help kids with their English skills by reading with them.

It's as latest figures show a quarter of 6 to 11 year olds in our area aren't getting to grips with the subject.

It's worrying news for local authorities as stats show success rates in English in Norfolk are actually falling.

The local authorities say they're working to improve those figures.

2 men released after North Norfolk murder


2 men who'd been arrested over a murder in Fakenham have been released on police bail.

The 27-year-old had been arrested on suspicion of murder and the 53-year-old on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

It's after 45 year old Steven Murphy was found stabbed to death at his home in the town last October.

And comes as 28 year old Andrew Cameron of no fixed address was charged with the murder on friday.

Norwich City beat Yeovil 3-0 at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Sarah's Law extended to Norfolk

A scheme allowing mums and dads to check if sex offenders live near them is being rolled out across Norfolk.

Sarah's Law will be extended across the county and 17 other areas from August following trials elsewhere

It's named after Sarah Payne - the 8-year old girl murdered by a convicted sex offender in 2000.

The rest of the country will get it next year.
